Increase Your Impact: A Math Workshop for Small Group Settings

Who Should Attend?
Classroom Teachers, Interventionists, Special Educators, and Coaches
At A Glance:
How do we close the gap for the many students who are currently struggling with great amounts of unfinished learning in math?
This 3 day workshop will center around research-based routines, structures, and practices for small group and 1:1 instruction, both in Tier II intervention and Tier III specialized learning settings.
Participants will gain tangible strategies for implementing rapid cycles of targeted instruction while presenting to students a more explicit relationship between what's happening in small group with its impact on Tier I.
Participants will hone their skills with diagnostic questioning, crafting appropriate goals, using data, as well as filling their instructional bag with concrete routines and activities. Whether you're working with whole number understandings, computational fluency, place value, or bolstering fractional reasoning, you will learn, practice, and plan for explicit routines that close the gap for individuals with unfinished learning.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
✅Dig deeper into the neuroscience behind numeracy
✅ Pick the right goal - improving a clear connection between Tier I and small group times
✅ Use "Thin Slicing" to close the gap between unfinished learning and grade-level expectations
✅Use Cognitive Load Reduction Theory to implement concrete routines during shorter small group instructional blocks
✅ Improve capacity to tease out student strengths and plan next instructional steps that use an asset-based lens
✅ Increase transfer of learning from small group/1:1 settings back to Tier 1
